Starter Enabler Relay (Firebird 1989) how is it attached to the body

On my 1989 Firebird with VATS my starter enabler relay in the driver side door hinge area is just hanging there loose in the wires if you like.

im sure it should be attached to the body with a screw or a clip of some sort

anyone got a good picture of what it looks like on a all stock Firebird (1989) you can share. It’s behind the tar like mat covering the rectangular hole where the lower driver side door hinge bolts go (body side)

They weren't mounted. Just stuck to the panel with that tar goop IIRC. That's how my 91 was and it wasn't ever messed with till I disabled VATS. Best solution is to just snip the big wires, join them, and throw the VATS relay as far away from the car as you are able. Zip tie the wiring to something.

On my 89 (camaro) it was mounted in the same spot as mentioned, but used a small plastic push pin to hold the relay on the body.As soon as i tried to remove it the mounting boss on the relay broke off with the pin attached. You couldnt even see the mount/pin due to the tar sheet though. I removed the module, but kept the relay/wiring and used a micro switch to activate the relay. Perhaps your pin is under the tar, mine was to the right of the square access.

I did suspect it’s just stuck in there with that tar mat and over time it fell off as it dries out .... thanks for confirming !

might see if I use some sort of clip to hold it in place rather than rattling around and stressing the wires
