whats up guys. just wanted to show something i did recently and have always wanted to do on my previous Camaros. i had a couple different firebird/ trans am map pockets from my old junkyardin days but happen to have one tan one that didnt have any logos stamped on it. so i dyed it black with fabric/ dye paint from autozone. I made a template out of some cardboard, transfered the the mounting points from the map pocket to the cardboard. then i put it on the dash where i wanted it and drilled the 6 holes into my dash and since the pocket just uses those christmas tree push pin things i just pressed them into the holes on the dash. i also decided to transfer the badge from my dash onto the pocket. the badge might get changed if i get my new custom emblems but i kinda like the cleanliness of the original badge. im thinking of tucking a magnet inside the flap of the pocket and putting a screw or piece of metal under the top of the dash so it can hold the flap up if needed.
Surprised that I don't see this modification more often. I'm guessing it's because so many of the pockets have some type of Pontiac/Firebird logo on them. IMO: it looks pretty cool !
Mostly the Hvac box, but there is a cruise control black box thing about between the center vents/map pocket. That one is mounted up against the dash.
Classic used to sell a "glove box" you could mount externally in that spot.
