Rear hatch pull down gear position

I got the 747-000 pull down assembly for my 1987 Firebird and of all the videos I've found about replacing it no one addresses how far to screw the plastic gear onto the shaft before putting the screws into the mounting plate. I don't want to break the plastic housing. Maybe it doesn't matter? What is the procedure?

Thanks

Re: Rear hatch pull down gear position

Of course I find some information after I ask the question. One place says to screw it on about 8 revolutions. Does anyone know if that's correct?

Re: Rear hatch pull down gear position

I ended up accidentally finding the answer in this forum. It is 8 to 10 turns. I found it under a thread by Black_Widdow posted on 09 09 2016 titled: Hatch pull-down gear nut alignment?
I tried 8 turns and it worked perfectly.
