Seat Bracket Modification Options
Seat Bracket Modification Options
89 rs convertible
so i'm looking for some ideas and options for modifying at least my drivers side seat brackes, so they go farther back, but still have the same range going forward and or swivel.
I need some kind of modification like this because my right leg is jacked up from a motorcycle accident a few years ago; and I have a really hard time getting in and out because I can't bend my right knee enough.
Once I'm in, with the seat all the way back that the stock bracket allows I'm good... it's just getting in/out that's a pita.
So I'm wondering if anybody knows of somebody that already makes such a bracket or has any ideas on how to modify the stock ones to give me some more range. I have the brackets out right now & I'm not seeing some obvious way to do this.
thanks in advance.

Re: Seat Bracket Modification Options
I put these in my car, they were very easy to install.

did you have to drill holes in the floorboards & or existing seat brackets to install?
thanks in advance.

I put one from a 4th gen FB that has a pivot for the front of the seat ,but it also seems to travel farther forward/back. I dont really use though as a adapted it to my pass side, but it seem to go 2-3" farther back by looking at the space behind it to the rear seat cushion.

Re: Seat Bracket Modification Options
Nope, it's all just bolt in, probably took me like 15 minutes. The plates have a hole that you utilize the existing floor studs and nut for, and then you use the shorty bolts it comes with to bolt the seat to the threaded hole in the plates. It's all fairly obvious when you get in there.
Scooting the seat around on the plates will scratch them though, so if you need to do an adjustment, try picking the seat up first. Or be lazy like me and just hit it with the rattle can afterwards.
