Trunk pull-down problems

I have recently been working on my 91 Formula trunk pull down mechanism. At first all I knew was that the trunk latch doesn’t get sucked down by the pull down mechanism. After a little bit of troubleshooting I confirmed that the motor works and the gears are fine. What I’m thinking is the little switch that is triggered by the trunk latch itself isn’t working. The pull down will return to the open state if it is all the way down, but it won’t go into the closed state. So am I right about the latch switch, or could something else be causing my problem?

Re: Trunk pull-down problems

Mine is doing exactly the opposite... it will close and not come back up (motor gets really hot and drains the battery). Sounds like your pulldown switch is bad and my bottom stop switch is bad. Together we may have a good unit! I'm looking for good used switches. If I find another good pulldown switch I'll let you know.

Yeah finding a working latch switch is a real pain, I’ve looked online and most of what I am seeing is the reversing switch.

Re: Trunk pull-down problems

So after taking apart the striker switch and verifying that it is working, my hatch pull down still doesn’t work! At this point I’m really second guessing myself and really have no idea anymore as to what could be causing my problem.
