Among many other things I'm replacing the carpet in my car. I have ACC molded carpet with mass backing. I am looking for advice on a couple things.
1, can someone tell me how the overlap between the front and rear carpets works? which goes over, where exactly do they meet? it seems like it'll show on mine (they want to meet just behind the rear seat)
2, the bigger issue. The trunk area doesn't fit AT ALL. I am trying to mold it with lead weights (been sitting in there for months now). Does anyone have advice? Do I need to cut it? then what, overlap? glue down? See photos. Thanks.

Reason: photo alignment
to answer your first question, the carpet in the cabin area stops behind the seat backs of the rear seats. the hatch carpet goes over the hump and overlaps the top of the main cabin carpet. when you fold down the rear seat back, you'll just see the hatch carpet.
for the second question, it looks like the hatch carpet isn't installed correctly. i think it needs to be pulled up towards the front of the car by like a foot or more. the carpet at the rear of the car shouldn't extend vertically up that high. it should only extend vertically onto the rear metal by like maybe 4-6" (if memory serves me correctly). in your second picture it looks like there's kind of a flat spot to the left of the lead weights. that area of the carpet should move to the right and lay flat in the bottom of the hatch well.
kind of hard to tell what's going on with the pictures zoomed in. post a couple pictures of the overall hatch area and how the carpet lays behind the rear seats.
Found an old picture in my albums. A few more days in summer heat and that whole thing laid down and I trimmed it to size. If they sent you the right mold formed carpet then you literally cannot get it wrong because it only drops in one way. If you did not buy mold formed carpet then you're totally screwed. If they accidentally sent you the wrong carpet then exchange it on their dime.
ACC carpet is never quite perfect, but it's always been pretty good. I can't even tell what you've got going on there! Something doesn't seem quite right.
Well, I feel pretty dumb. I pulled the hatch carpet forward about a foot and it fits pretty well. I just had it in there all wrong. Thanks for the help, especially battmann.
