pulldown assembly question

every time I open the hatch the motors burns out or not getting power. not sure what the problem is. I typically replace motor and its good to close but this time its not getting power so I found a company called WestCoast autoparts that sells the complete assembly that's been refurbished. my question is, if I take this piece off and bolt it on the new one is that all I need to work the outside lock? also is that one bolt and screw all I need to remove too get that piece off for the transfer ?

Re: pulldown assembly question

It might help if you post a link to the part you want to buy. Then maybe someone can answer your question.

Re: pulldown assembly question

Jeez I'm in the wrong business
1986-1991 Camaro and Firebird replacement Pull Down Assembly (wc-autoparts.com)
The hatch release is a separate function if it works now it should work with the new unit.
Have you done any trouble shooting what the core issue may be? If your capable your unit could possible be fixed for a fraction of almost $500 they want.

It's pointing at the hatch release solenoid assembly, this is activated by the hatch release button on the dash.

Re: pulldown assembly question

Yes swapping that hatch release solenoid to the refurbished pull-down you'll purchase is all you need to do*

* You also need to reinstall the ground wire that goes from the solenoid mount screw to the body ground location or the solenoid won't fire..
