LS/C seat refresh

Ive been hounding a fellow member to sell me this pair of Trans Am Lear Seigler seats for a year and finally managed to get them home (Thanks Vinnie for putting up with me).

With cleaning the passenger seat is a bolt in.

The lower on the drivers side is dry rotted. I’m hoping for this season to install the passenger seat cleaned up/ as is and transfer the driver upper on to my standard Trans Am lower (same colour/material).

My questions are,

What is the best process to clean them? I have a Bissell spot cleaner though hesitant to use it. I pulled apart material on another seat of seats with my shop vac and I’m afraid to do the same here.

Where can I buy LS/C Trans Am upholstery ready to install or material only?

Do Ultima passenger seat rails have tilt?

Re: LS/C seat refresh

I purchased a Bissel Little Green Pro Heat and have had 2 cleaning sessions so far. A local vendor quoted me $4000 CDN to refinish all 4 seats with new upholstery in standard fabric.

i don’t mind bologna but I don’t think I can swallow that much at one time.

its still in my mind to run these seats as is for 2025 but im awfully tempted to try my standard T/A upholstery on these foams/frames.

I’m the meantime I believe the pivot covers are the same as standard Camaro buckets, if any one in Canada has a gray or black set I’d be interested in purchasing.

Re: T/A Lear Seigler seat refresh

Bissel Little Green is still doing some heavy lifting on the 4th round. Waste water is still medium dark brown.

Notably I’ve not torn any fabric with the Little Green, a problem I’ve run into in the past with shop vac and hot soapy water & scrub brush.

I’ve got all the linkage moving again with some light oil and persistence. I’ve do done a fair bit of work to seating in the past (no sewing), these are well made.

Notable differences between the standard T/A seat and the L/S:

Silver side bolsters on the upper and lower are wider. Charcoal sections are the same width.

L/S has vertical piping, likely being used to secure upholstery to frame.

The pivot assemblies are nearly identical. They’re tucked in the T/A upper upholstery and exposed with the L/S upper. I’m still hoping to find covers.

1 or two more sessions with the cleaner and I’ll be installing the passenger seat. That’ll give me a chance to see how wrong I am about upholstery swapping. There’s a seamstress nearby I’m hoping she’s willing to get involved.

That's pretty amazing that you are still pulling dirt out of the fabric, as they don't look that soiled to begin with.

I too have ripped fabric with cleaner and a scrub brush, and am fairly terrified to destroying my otherwise flawless original seat covers trying to clean them, but I'll have to give it a try in a few weeks (I hope). The home vac. has a nice vacuum adjustment on the hose (a vaiable vacuum leak), which I could try to duplicate on my small wet/dry shop vac.

Are you using their BIssel Spot and Stain fluid?

The filth it’s pulling out is wild.

Im using Bissell Oxy Spot & Stain, same as the unit comes with. I soak the material using the wand then return to make a pull with additional soap.

2nd round I did with laundry detergent (the sample ran out) and that did no harm but left the material stiff (probably not dilute enough). I’ve not had that problem with the Spot & Stain.

I’d highly recommend just splurging on the machine, it is excellent.
