FYI- 4th gen seat tracks and recline mechanism bolts on to thirdgen seats

91 Trans Am with stock seats. Donor seats 95 Camaro with electric driver seat

95 electric track bolted on directly to the 91 seat. The plastic shrouding for the electric seat controls however would not sit correctly as the 4th gen seats have removed/ recessed foam in the area where the switch sits. Some creative thinking here to resolve wouldn't be too difficult

I also replaced the reclining mechanism as my thirdgen one was no longer allowing me to recline the seat from a particular position. 4th gen mechanism again bolted straight in. Handle to recline is different, but the thirdgen beauty cover still screws in and clears the 4th gen handle. Also fyi, the 4th gen recline mechanism seems to require the tab at the rear of back rest to be lifted to bring the backrest forward for accessing the rear seats - whereas of course our thirdgen mechanisms have a nifty angle based lock that will only trigger if the car is sat at more than a certain incline/ decline. So slightly less convenient, but here in the uk, the 4th gen approach is more conventional and avoids questions / and threat of fail during the annual inspection (MOT)

I should be with the car this sunday and will snap a few installed pics. But hope it helps as our thirdgen stuff continues to wear and become more scarce.

I was fortunate enough to to pickup a seat of 02 firebird seats this past weekend for $30. Mainly for the electric track and the mounts are gusseted further than my early 88s that cracked, but I wondered about the recline mechanism. I've never been a fan of the inertia lock on the thirdgen, and now I have confirmation that I can swap it out. Thank you!
