New Problem Trunk Latch Will Not Catch
Tried Googling and searching, couldn't find an answer. I installed a brand new trunk motor unit and housing from Hawks. Finally got it working. The motor works fine with no issues. However, the hatch itself will not latch on or catch. My car is an 86. The unit is for 86-91. But it just won't latch on. I've tried loosening the bolts and adjusting it a thousand times. Been fighting with it all morning. I can't get it to latch no matter what. It just won't connect on. Check out the videos below. Any ideas on how to get it o catch. It feels like the latch is meeting the motor. But just won't catch on for what ever reason. From the second video, the motor works fine.

Re: New Problem Trunk Latch Will Not Catch
Update. I can get it to the point where I can get the latch to touch the switch that lowers the motor. The motor lowers if I keep pressure on it. As soon as I let go, the hatch just flys open. So I can touch the motor but just won't latch. Which makes this very frustrating. I just want the trunk closed and to be able to drive this car.

Update, this is a video showing my above comment. I can active the motor with the hatch. The latch is clearly in the motor but it won't latch on. I can get the motor to work. The lock does work if I use a screwdriver and I can unlock it with the switch inside but no matter how much I adjust, it will not latch.

Got it. With some advice from Hawks.
I jumped in the back of the car and had my dad close it. We were able to get it latched and I bolted the motor unit down.
I guess it's a two person job. That's how Hawks does it.
