replacement switches?
replacement switches?
Has anyone bought the hawks switches for windows, power mirrors and door locks? If so, how are they holding up? Thinking about getting the power mirror switch to start.

Re: replacement switches?
Did you ever end up ordering switches from Hawk's? I might be in the market for new window switches, completely ruined a bezel on one of mine with all the center console fenagling I've been doing recently, but the switches themselves are still fine... wish they sold the bezels separately like they do with the mirror switch. I saw a couple reviews on the Hawk's site saying the new window switches don't return to center, so I'm a little hesitant to drop $60 just to end up only using the bezels...
Re: replacement switches?
I have not yet. My switches are all functioning but the white marking have all worn off. I have a new console top to use, was planning to have new switches in it but if they don't function like the factory switch I'll prob hold off.

Gotcha, definitely just be careful when you're pulling the plug off the switches, that's what got my pass side bezel
only 2 out of the 9 reviews on Hawk's mention the switches sticking, so I'm not sure if there was just a funky batch at some point, or if the switches just needed to be broken in. I'll probably end up ordering new switches from Hawk's in the near-ish future, I can make a note to report back on them here. I have to get an offset shifter before I can go and fully install my new console plate though, hitting my ashtray in 1st/3rd at the moment, so it'll probably be a few weeks at least

Re: replacement switches?
The power mirror switch is the same on the Fiero except for the bezel. Switch the bezel out and you’re good to go. $65 new on that auction site. With the window switches, you can get some flat white model paint with a very fine brush and touch up the UP and DN letters on the bezel. I did this with mine and it turned out pretty good after a few tries. Or, you can buy the new switches and switch out the bezels. That way, you get to keep the original switches that function normally.

would also be nice to avoid spending $35 on a new mirror switch bezel.... kinda insane for a bit of plastic, but I something something supply and demand I guess.Speaking of the mirror bezel, PROTIP: When you're cutting the switch holes in your new reproduction center console plate, file the holes back all the way to the edges of the embossment on the back! As it turns out, the retaining clip on the mirror bezel is quite fragile... had maybe a quarter of a mm left to file when I decided to test fit, and the clip snapped when I went to pull it back out. Who woulda thought that nearly 40 year old plastic would be so brittle

I Bought the window and power mirror switch from Hawks, and they work great. From my experience Hawks sells great stuff.

Yes, you have to hold them down like normal until the window is down then the spring back when you let go. Hawks has really good factory replacement parts. Im getting the t-top sunshade inserts next.

Re: replacement switches?
Forgot to reply to this earlier, sorry! That's about the same price that Hawk's is selling 'em for, $60 for the pair from Hawk's; probably the same supplier. I might try my luck at the local junkyard before I spend even $30 on basically just bezels, thankfully I live close to a yard that still gets thirdgens fairly regularly... my shopping list is getting longer, oughta hit the yard on Sunday if it isn't raining. Funny enough, I also prefer how the bezels look with the white paint rubbed off, so it'd be nice if I could find some that match my one good bezel at the yard

Even when new, they looked like a DIY paint job. The Camaro switches looked better with the little (Tampo printed?) pic of the side window on it.

Re: replacement switches?
Are fog light switches available? M '83 never had them, so I added after-market lights. 'Would be really cool to have a factory switch button for a later model...

These window switches worked great for $10, great fit and work better than the junk yard set I had for about 10 years. Best part is they have no voltage drop, so now my passenger side window moves as fast as the driver side.
