complete LT4 and 1990 GTA roller (READ ENTIRE POST)
If you are interested in a 1990 GTA or an LT4 please read entire post thank you.
Fort Wayne IN, Columbia City IN, $6,000.00….OBO….READ ENTIRE POST
LT4 was running when I pulled it from my wrecked 86 Trans am. I then found this forum and read about all the upgrades I could do to it so the rebuild began. The block was bored .030 over, cleaned, new freeze plugs installed along with new cam bearings. The block is a 2 bolt main LT4 code from a 96 corvette it has a steel crank that was polished, chevy powdered rods, sealed power forged pistons 11.4 compression ratio with chrome moly rings gapped for nitrous, and the rotating assembly that was balanced. The head has the LT4 casting number 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust and were cleaned decked and had a 3 angle valve grind as well as new valve steam guides installed. The heads and intake were slightly ported to match. The engine has been put together with ARP main studs ARP rod bolts and ARP head bolts using cleveite bearings and felpro gasket kit. It has 1:7 roller rocker arms with chrome moly push rods and comp cam push rod followers. It has roller lifters ridding on a comp cam and I’m sorry I do not know the cam specs. Has chevy HD timing chain. The water pump drive gear has been removed as I was going to install an electric water pump. Have the freeze plugs to plug timing cover and rear of water pump that also has been gutted ready for electric water pump. The engine is sitting on an engine stand covered and oiled often as the covers need installed aka, oil pan, timing cover valve coves intake. I have an ARP engine bolt kit to finish the job.
The throttle body is a 52mm with an air foil and a polished aluminum GTA vacuum plate cover, has bosh red top injectors that have been completely rebuilt and flow matched
I have the complete wiring harness, out of a 94 trans am as it is running a spline drive opti dizzy the computer has been programed for the upgrades and has been converted to an OBD2 plug it was running with this set up before it was pulled.
This engine will not need much to finish it things on my list were new dizzy (old one works just is old), starter, oil pump drive gear, electric water pump, headers, and I was going to do a painless wiring harness to clean up the engine bay but not needed, and finish engine assembly I have all needed gaskets.
I have all of the front drive components as well as the A/C compressor just has block of plate installed. It is an LT4 as the compressor is mounted on top left. Also have upper strut tower brace that ties into the fire wall.
I am sure I’m missing some things and like I said it was out of a corvette so I have the corvette fuel rail covers also.
As for the rest of the drive line I have a rebuilt 4L60E with a shift kit and a new torque converter. And aluminum drive shaft and two rear ends one out of the 86 drum brakes with an auburn cone style posi with 4:11 gears. And the GTA rear end in the roller chassis the LT4 was going in with 3:73 and factory LSD. I was going to combine the two and end up with rear disk and the auburn and 4:11 gears.
Now for the GTA it is a 1990 GTA maroon with beach wood cloth interior non T-top. It has the gold snow flake rims with new rubber and has the dual cat exhaust that I just had fixed and new muffler installed prior to removing the 350 tpi I was going to keep as much as I could with the new headers. The body is in great shape for the year but has been poked in the right head light by the corner of a guard rail it took out the head light very slightly bent the very tip of hood by the light and folded down the tip of fender by the light the hood can be fixed but as for the fender is bent on the body line so it will need a fender I do have a head light assembly for it. Has normal rear wing cracking, bad power antenna and loose door pins. As for rust has bubbles in paint by rear marker light drives side rest is solid. Old lady had it prior to me and was garaged kept.
The interior has been disassembled for the swap but is all in the car and is amazing shape except the driver’s seat as the old lady wore it out sliding in and out and passenger door has gray cup holder do to only one I could find at the time. Dash has no cracks also. Other than that awesome. Have many many spare parts from 86 trans am to go with car
I had every intention of finishing my dream car but life has its changes and mine has come. My loss your gain. Car and engine are located around Fort Wayne IN, Columbia city IN. please PM me or email me rjhurst2009@icloud.com if any questions. Sorry no pictures I do have them if you email me I can get them to you or if you want to see something special. I am currently deployed but have ways to set up arrangements if you’re truly interested, I will be state side in April.
I have no clue what an LT4 is worth or what a GTA goes for but I know what I have in them for everything I will take $6,000.00 OBO or I will separate drive train and car. If you want something let me know I may part with it.
My loss your gain would love to see this car finished!!! Thank you Richard Hurst
