Whats everyone use for throttle cable?
Which throttle cable fits....the ones from the 2000 TA are too long because of the traction control.

there are two throttle cables for 4thgen LS1s....
one cable goes to a crankbell/motor... then a second cable leaves it and goes to the throttle... that is what LS1s with traction control had.
the other is a normal cable that goes from the throttle pedal, straight to the throttlebody, like a normal setup. this is the cable you need...

Agreed. I just got a stock '99 Camaro cable WITHOUT traction control. The actual cable was a bit to long preventing Wide Open Throttle, so I tied a knot at the very end of it effectively reducing its lenght and giving me WOT operation.

i used a nylon zip tie.
basicly you need to attach the cable, then at the pedal, pull the inner cable forward, and put something on it, like a zip tie... i guess a knot would work too... then it'll have WOT.

Cable
Do you mean pull the throttle cable toward the rear of the car and then put a zip tie on it?
THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS
I know you guys have done the swap to and was wondering If I could get a pic of how the high pressure hose from the power steering is hooked up...For some reason I cant get mine to fit...Its out of a 2000 TA

with that hose, attach it to the pump, then put it on the steering box... the hose will have a slight twist to it.. and it might be near the pulley....
once tight, you can tweek the hardline by hand away from the pulley, and it'll fit there like it was made to..

Good idea on the Zip-Tie, whish I would have though of that before putting a knot in it. Oh well, works just as good.
I agree on the hose. Just get the non-cooler hose and it will screw right in to the gear box and then you can "finesse" it however you need to for clearance. I have a '99 Camaro hose and it works great.

i actually did it again this weekend... i have my blue car to my little sis for her to goto school in... i never realized this, but our throttle pedal is alot farther down then the brake.... i used the zip-tie trick to raise the gas pedal so the brake is easier to reach..

*I'm not sure why you guys tied knots in your new throttle cables or used zip ties. Just take your gas pedal out and bend the angle on it a little more.
Mine works 100% perfect, reaching WOT just like it should and by bending it I also raised the gas pedal up off the floor some and it sits up higher in relation to the brake pedal. MUCH better feel when driving. I used the 4th gen cable GM part # 12565559.
*As for the power steering hose, I used the stock ones of the '98 LS1 I have in the car. Hooked up just fine. I had to hold the one in a certain position before tightening it down so that it wouldn't rub against the belt/pulley but it turned out great... just like factory.
Hope this helps.

4th Gen Throttle Cable/Bracket
Thanks to GTA91 I found these part numbers so I'll list for future reference. The cable is specific for non-traction control cars.
Bracket - 12552865
Cable - 12565559
Bolts (2) - Part number I have is 11516398 but it can't get a match on it. Bolts are listed as HFH M6x1x20 on my parts CD

Re: Whats everyone use for throttle cable?
Old thread, I know. I just put an 02 LS1 in my 91 Z28. The lokar cable has a goofy clip on the end of the cable where it goes to the pedal, it just hangs off? Also, what did you use to hold the cable in place where it goes through the firewall? Thanks

One member (forget who) welded a flat washer of appropriate hole size to the firewall.
Dumb question: If you have to bend the 3rd gen pedal to get full travel with a factory cable, why not use the 4th gen pedal if you're installing a 4th gen clutch/brake pedal set, anyway? (Guess what I'm doing for clutch/brake pedal)

Equally dumb answer
- because that would make sense, & we're philosophically opposed to that...

Re: Whats everyone use for throttle cable?
I used the Lokar. I like the way it looks on top of the engine, but it seems kind of ghetto the way it hooks to the gas pedal. unless I did it wrong, but I couldnt see any other way than just slipping the wire through the slot in the pedal and the fitting just kind of presses against the hole.

Re: Whats everyone use for throttle cable?
I was thinking about getting the lokar unit, any pics of how it looks on the pedal? bending the pedal or using a zip tie seem like a short cuts but I haven't heard of any other alternatives.

Re: Whats everyone use for throttle cable?
The fourth gen gas pedal doesn't fit very well so most guys cut it off when swapping pedals and simply use the third gen pedal. In fact the fourth gen pedals themselves dont fit very well so IMO its easiest to use third gen manual pedals accross the board and not use the fourth gen's at all. FWIW It literally takes 30 seconds to bend the gas pedal arm out far enough to take up the slack and its done and effective.

Re: Whats everyone use for throttle cable?
Some of you are making this way too difficult.
1) Get a 4th gen non-TCS throttle cable.
2) Bend your stock gas pedal a little bit to achieve WOT.
3) Fit the 4th gen cable thru the stock 3rd gen hole in the firewall, fasten/hold it with a nice looking phillips sheet metal screw (with the washer built into the head) on each side of the cable.

Re: Whats everyone use for throttle cable?
I actually cut a perfectly straight slit in the plastic firewall mount from my stock TPI throttle cable, hollowed it a little, slid my Lokar cable in it, and snapped it into the orginal hole in the firewall. Seems to be working great. Like I said, I like the way it looks on the engine, I just dont like the way it mounts to the pedal.
