Do you even need Fuel Vapor Canister??

I'm buying quick connect fittings from Performanceplumbing.com for the fuel rail and for the sending and return lines from the sending unit on my 4'th gen tank. My question is can I just take off the fuel vapor canister attatched to the tank and not even use it?

Also, does anyone have a drawing with the lines coming out of the sending unit labeled as to which are sending, return, vapor?

this would be very helpful.

Thanks,
25thredrs

Nah you really dont need it. You could just let it release into the air. Its really not enviromentally friendly, but whatever.

It's just an emmisions device. If you have testing in your area, you won't pass. If you do eliminate it, I'd recommend sealing the evap line and running a vented cap or installing a filter on the line to prevent road crap from getting in the tank.

there was a long rediculous discussion about this a while back and the possibility of explosion by deleting it

I had mine unplugged for 4 years.

LMFAO, I'd love to read that thread.

If your concerned about the air we breath or have emissions testing/inspection, you can use it. Otherwise, you can take it off, just seal everything off like said above.

Its been over 5 years since I took mine off......

never understood why letting fuel vapor vent into the air was a really large deal... just look at what planes do... dropping all that fuel right out into the air... jeez.. I haven't had mine hooked up to any of my thirdgens from the day i boght them.. and one is even missing it lol..

Because HC (Hydrocarbons, gasoline vapor) and NOx (Oxides of Nitrogen) in the presence of sunlight form Smog.
