ATI on a 3rd gen LS1??

Well,

Ive been searching around and havent seen a ton of stuff about FI for our cars. Probably because its not easy to do (especially turbos) But I was just wondering if anyone would know what conflictions there would be with some think like a procharger? How much modification would need to be done? It seems those twin intercoolers would work decently on a thirdgen. I also have a rack and Pinion so the bulky steering box and arms are out of the way. Any ideas? Im kinda dreamin right now, (as I always am) but Id like to know if it can be done.

Go with a Whipple Twin Screw. Third gens are alot more forgiving with space under the hood than 4th gens. With enough planning and measuring, you should be able to get one mounted under the hood.

Yea I have plenty of room for a roots type Whipple blower...but there seems to be less room in the pockets for that kind of venture, lol. I wish undergrad and dental school would whip by real quick so i can get a real job.

Going with Whipple will cost you alot less than an ATI, not only that, it's superior to ATI procharger in every way.

Well as for superiority i couldnt tell you because i havent seen a whole lot of info about the Whipple yet. But im pretty sure that the whipple is just as expensive as an ati...and thats if you get a new ATI. If i did try an ATI I would probably by used.

*I was just looking at pics of the whipple...I dont think it would fit. The height might be ok...but Because the inlet is at the back of the motor there would be no way for me to route any sort of pipeing, if it even fits without hitting the firewall.

i think you should try to fit some truck manifolds or make your own manifolds for the big single turbo or twins. hopefully you could take advantage of that extra clearance from the tubes. if you own a welder you could get away with a good hp gain / $.

instead of shellin out the 2 grand my exhaust would cost me I may grow a set and try and get a single turbo in the front end, there is a ton of room

I would do it the ghetto way take my 02 manifolds and throw them on backwards, relocating the alternator..

prolly try next summer

I'm doing research on this subject myself. My car will have either a blower or (more likely) an STS Turbo on it before next summer.

he he

nah just work in the coal mines....... it pays ok...... if i still go with the ls7 i am going to find some good combos listed that ati or a programming outfit already has done so it will be a smooth transition... i just dread swapping in the ts6 where there used to be a 700r4... i have my 9" moser housing but have yet to have my 4.56 dertiot truetrac third member shipped yet... i defanantly want a screamer! man the sound the dual 40's will make with that!

ive been thinking about using a vette bracket to hang one off the passenger side head. too much clutter on the drivers side to use a 4th gen ati kit.
seems like the thing to do.
you can get bends and stuff for intercooler plumbing and make it yourself if need be.

another option, which is cheaper, would be to instal a meth kit instead of an intercooler.
wont make as much power, but the meth will help keel the temps down a bit.
