Possible LT1 swap...

I totalled my 96 Formula, and will be getting a 91 V6 Firebird soon. I've been parting out the Formula thinking I would just go SBC in the Firebird. But recently I've begun to consider swapping the LT1 into the Firebird.

I have the engine, harness, PCM, all accessories. I also have LT1 Edit for the PCM.

I'm still doing some research on this to decide if it's something I want to do.

From what I've read, there's a little splicing in the PCM harness to be done, a fuel pump swap (still have the 4th gen tank with pump in it, although I might just step up to an aftermarket pump), then there's the matter of the transmission. It also appears that I will need to swap the gauges to something from a V8 car, with the 8k RPM redline. What about replacing the stock gauges with something like some Autometer gauges, has anyone done that?

The Firebird has t-tops, so I'm considering going without AC, but would like to have it. Does anyone sell a pre-modded motor mount that will work? I don't have the tools or experience to modify the motor mount. Or is there an accessory bracket for either the 'Vette or the Caprice/Impala that will work better?

Klortho - what is MTFBA?

LWillmann - I believe thirdgen.org member Karps TA has swapped in Auto Meter Gauges, they aren't cheap though. And you have to fab up your own dash cluster. I'm swapping in a 4th gen dash and won't need my 140MPH/8K cluster. I'd be willing to trade it for a few connectors from the 4th gen dash harness to make my 4th gen dash functional. Send me a pm if interested.
-for the a/c just go and buy a big hammer and hit the frame to make the a/c compressor clear. Brackets are expensive, i learned the hard way.
