Don't worry much about the iron heads. Some of the reading I did when I was looking for an lt1 indicated that the heads may flow a little better than the aluminum fbody heads. Fbody heads are a little higher compression to compensate for the cooling of the aluminum. Congradulations on ending your treasure hunt.

Well Finally got the engine on the engine stand, and I gotta say it aint holding up well I think I used the wrong bolt size and they looked kinda short
oh well they were the longest I had so I used em and I bent the front wheel of the engine stand ahaha ehh.. I Put a block of wood under the engine stand fram to support it and added a long block of wood and set it under the engine (oil pan) and ground to help support the engine, My g/f came over and she helped me clean my engine until she had to go home which was like at 10:30 pm she loves me like that
here some pics! of the early stages before the engine swap stage! stages!!!!
The Impala SS 1995 computer

I don't know if this was suppose to be cut during the removal of the LT1 ? its the rear part of the engine wire harness

Here's the front of the engine wire harness, it is cut again I dont know if this was the right thing to do? or if it's something that just needs to be done during the removal process??? maybe someone could fill me on on this wire cutting deal?

Engine kinda polished the intake manifold...

Cleaned the engine as best as we could and where we could reach

ugh. it looks like they chopped off the relay/fuse center. So you've got your homework to do, if you re-use the harness. It's also the main body connection and the trans connection it looks like. I hate when people do that, to me its worse than denting a prize fender in. It takes an extra 20 minutes to do it right.
congrats on the engine though, You will have some work to do to get it all wired up. They run great BTW. Hop it up with a cam, and springs, and it will scoot.

Thanks bro, Im currently bidding on a wireharness FAST FUEL AIR SPARK TECHNOLOGY on ebay
Im a little larry about reusing this wireharness so Im going to try to win this bid. I actually called like 7 Different Automotive Shops and most of them said they would not be able to do the swap because it was too time consuming, and one said they would have to take it to a refaree after the swap. Another said they never done it before but would do it? One shop called Waltons Automotive said they could do it but if it didnt run it wasnt there problem and that they would not warranty thier work!!???? One shop does LTX-LSX ect swaps called "pauls automotive" in Torrance,CA but they want $2500.00 just for labor, I told them I would provide all the parts.
I asked the service Manager at pep boys and he said he knows how to do it and would charge me about 600.00 for the swap but I would need to transport the camaro and LT1 to east L.A. where he lives.

Save your money and just remove all the old power/fuse section out of the old one. Its should just unplug in various spots then remove it and you will be left with your engine harness. Next just visit the lt1 wiring for dummies thread spend a few hours wiring and your set.

Axle/Gears: 10bolt 3.23's I think
I was lucky enough to find a complete LT1 with harness for 500.00 has 99k on it though.. I think I'll pull the cam and heads and clean everything up, repaint, regasket and replace valve seals at a minimum, cam change will be necessary b4 I install it. And BTW it's ugly .. looks like it was never cleaned. Out of a Caprice Police car.

*LOL* Try two guys HAND moving a stock 305 with iron heads, out of a SUV and into a garage *LOL* now that is tough
Good luck with the swap.
Kinda glad I don't have a TPI or LT1, I'd probably supercharge it or just run to the junkyard and look for small turbos and do a twin turbo setup *LOL*

i paid 1900 for a 95 TA Lt1 6-speed was hit on passenger side was easily fixable but the guy didnt want to bother getting the salvaged title. Didnt even bend the frame. Im putting the motor in my 85 T/A i got the 6-speed in the 89 iroc and the seats and carpet is going in my 85. I might put the dash and console in but the console is missing 1 trim piece and i have a perfect console out of my 89 bird for the 85.
