I am using a single stock 305 fan in my LS1 with a LS1 radiator. It works well. A replacement motor is only about 30-40 dollars.

You should be fine with the 305 single fan. Thats what im going to do. Try what 89rsragtop said.

You dont get a code with the 160T stat? Or due you have to program the computer for that?

I used a new 5.7L Radiator for a 92 Camaro, stock T-Stat, and an electric fan that came stock with a 89 V6. I think all single electric fans were the same no matter what engine was stock for a thirdgen. My fan never comes on unless it sits and idles for a long time. I have mine programed to come on at 205 and shut off at 195. Has never overheated in the 2 years its been on the road.

thats good to hear. now i wont be so scared now. since were on the cooling subject, what did you guys use to read your temp on the temp gauge? Use an 98 temp sensor and put on the pass. head block?

(sorry for the hijack)

I use HPTuners. I cant see the temps all the time like that, but I've never been worried about it so...

Using the 98 temp sensor is what most people do tho.

im using a lt1 dual setup with a be- cool radiator, it is probably a overkill but it runs 150-170 degrees all the time

Right now I have a stock RS radiator and single fan. The radiator does the job, but the single fan isnt really cutting it on a hot day when idleing. Its fine if its cool and/or you are driving it around, but it starts to creep up even with the fan on (just on a manual fan switch right now).

if you had to, couldnt you just hook up a dual fan and call it a day?

Is this with a V6 radiator, or a 5.0L radiator? I dont know if there is any difference between 5.0L and a 5.7L radiator, but I know the V6 one is smaller so... I'm using the 5.7 radiator and a single fan and have no problems what so ever. Also, the wiring to the fan can make a diference too. I would check the voltage at the fan just to make sure the fan is running at full speed.

its a 5.0 L. The fan is just on a switch right now with 12 v, probably not optimum. I am going to get one of those switches with a temp. probe so i can eliminate the switch. Its not too bad, but if the car idles for a long time and/or is in hot weather itll start to creep up even with the fan on, however slowly.

I think one step better would be to let the PCM control a relay for it. Sounds like something might be going or has gone bad with your cooling system. I mean, even if my fan turns on, it will always get cool enough to turn off. It takes about 3 mins to go from 205 back down to 195. Hope you figure it out.

well the problem is, for unknown reasons, my pcm wont turn the fans on so i said screw it I want to drive the car so I threw a switch on. Most the time I dont even need the fan if its a little cool, but about 75 degrees or more or if I drive it for a while I have to put the fan on and it usually keeps the temp in check. I like to keep it cool and try to keep it at around 160*. The problem is the fan doesnt really cool it down, it just kinda slows the heating up almost to a stop.
