where to notch shifter whole for ls1/t56 swap?

where to notch shifter whole for ls1/t56 swap?

just like it says. where do i notch for the t56 on the shifter whole?

From what I understand you may have to move the shifter hole back ~2" (http://www.fbodymotorsports.com/91_z...transmission1). I'm not sure what will work for you though, I haven't undertaken the project myself (yet). Good luck

Here is a picture of the hole I cut for my T5 swap

Here is an angle from where I had the car torn down for the LS1 swap

When I put the T-56 in, everything was still fine from my original hole.

As for the actual measurements, sorry I cant help ya, I already put all the interior back in. What I did for the t5 was put the trans up with the shifter off (covered with tape) and cut the hole as needed.

well i just went ahead and notched as i went. but just to let you know you notch the rear of the shifter whole 2 inches and you will have plenty of room for the tranny to sit where it needs to be.

There is no real science to how much to notch. I put the shifter on the trans and started bolting everything up. Once the trans was raised into position you could see exactly what needed to be cut to clear, I took out as little as possible.................jt
