Ok gang... I got her running right before I went on vaca... Wired up the few last connections, and she fired on the very first try. She promptly shut off, which I was blaming VATS for..but I wasnt sure. Here is the vid...

So I built a VATS bypass box from about $11 worth of radio shack parts and an online diagram. The diagram turned out to be off alittle...so I used my brain and got it to work. I was just about to throw the box away when I switched one wire and got it to work. Car seems to run perfect. Nice idle...just like before I removed it from the camaro. And it sounds SICK!!!

Make sure you crank it up for this one...

Let me know what you think!

Running an all aluminum engine without the waterpump or radiator hooked up is disaster in the making

Yup I agree. However, that was the longest and only time I ran the engine...I tried it about 4 times with the vats kicking in...sot hat was 2-4 seconds a pop. Then with the vats box hooked up i ran it for about 10 seconds to confirm it was working. Then i took the vid and ran it the final time. I could still touch the headers after I was done. Before I started it, I poured 50/50 in through the upper water pump inlet. A fair amount went in, and didnt come back out, so I figured it was atleast sitting in the motor in some spots. In fact the temp gauge barely started budging just as I shut her down. So I didnt do any damage to the engine... If I let it heat up to 260 degrees ..yes...that would be bad.

Thanks for the compliments and the concern! I still have some odds and ends to take care of. The radiator is now in and good to go. I have a few wiring things to clean up. Im on my way to spohn today to get the last of the front end parts that i needed. Only two major hurdles I have left are plumbing the brakes (all custom lines), and running the exhaust (hawks y-pipe/spohn crossmember issue). Ill keep you all updated!
