Starting LS1 Swap..

Hey guys,

I have done tons of reading and read all of the FAQs but have a few questions.

Car is a 1990 Camaro and I am going from the V6 to the LS1.

I know I will have to swap such things as springs to hold the v8 but I had some questions over some of the swap parts.

Wiring Harness/ECU:
So I need the LS1 wiring harness and LS1 ECU to take the place of my camaros harness and ecu? then send them off to get the harness rewired and the ECU programmed?

Fuel Lines:
Do I absolutely need the fuel pressure regulator or if I buy the 97 Vette fuel rail that will take care of the regulator?

I believe thats it for now. Just had those few questions.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

you will need a combination of your stock 3rd gen harness and the LS1 harness and ECU. You will no longer need your third gen ECU. Basically the plugs that go under the passenger side dash and the ones that go connect to the firewall near the brake booster are the only parts you need off the third gen harness. The 97 vette fuel rails will look after your reg issue but it might be a good idea to run an aftermarket adjustable unit if you plan to upgrade the engine and fuel system in the future.

Is it possible to modify the two harnesses to make the engine work without having to send it off somewhere? I'd rather not have to pay to have something done that I could do myself.
What's the advantage to the 97 Vette fuel rails? And where is a good place to get them?
