LT4 Hot Cam ?'s

I was looking on gmparts direct and seen when useing this cam in a 95 below LT1 that the dowl pin on the end has to be knocked or cut a little to fit the opti in the wright place? Is this true?

You have to tap it in a little so the Opti will seat. The newer style optis use the pin to turn them, the older ones used a splined driveshaft from the cam gear. It really is very simple to do.

Ok is this something I will want to do in the block or out of it? And if I do it out of the block how do I know when I have drove it in far enuff?

Out of the block. Just match it to the dowel in your old cam.

Well kinda a problem there when I bought the motor he had just put in the hot cam. And I didn't get the old cam.

The pin needs to be in far enough that it doesn't hit the timing cover and not in so far that it doesn't go through the cam gear. I suppose you could tap it gently while it is in the engine.
