lt1 fuel line

I am finally starting my swap this weekend and have one lingering concern. The Camaro LT1 fuel connection is on the drivers side and my IROC lines are on the passengers side. I have been looking for Corvette fuel rails that connect on the passengers side but so far have found them just after they were sold.

What are you guys doing to make this connection and have it look like it was done on purpose? I have seen the fuel lines routed a LONG way to make this connection but this does not suit my taste. Is there a good way to use the Camaro LT1 and have a professional looking installation of fuel lines?

Thanks for some help as I can not get a mental picture of how to do this without the Corvette fuel rails.

the only thing that comes to mind to do it to look decent is to cut off the quick disconnect barb on the fuel rail and have -AN fittings brazed on, then you could use 2 180* bends and run the line to your fuel line connections.

Re: lt1 fuel line

Sounds like your Iroc was a carb engine. Easiest way is to find a TPI car (or V6 MPFI car) and pull the entire fuel line from the tank to the engine compartment, plus the sending unit as well.

No, the car is a factory 350 88 IROC. The fuel lines enter the engine bay by the A/C equipment and connect from there to the TPI fuel rail. On the f-body LT1 cars the fuel connection is on the opposite side of the intake with rather long fuel lines attached to the fuel rail and extending in the wrong direction.
I am not sure how the routing is on the RS TBI cars.

Re: lt1 fuel line

thats weird, i thought all the L98 TPI cars were drivers side fuel rail lines.

the only way to run those lines would be to get a corvette fuel rail. i think that would be it. i think the manifolds are all the same just the fuel rail is different.

other option is to call Pure Choice motorsports and order their TPI to LT1 fuel line kit. they come in 30inch long lengths but if you need them longer, and you probly will, they can custom make them to your specified length for a certain price per foot. I forget the price but the kit i got for my 89 Irocz cost 99 bucks complete with fittings.

you will just have to route the lines around the engine bay and hide them if you want to clean up the look. i agree corvette rails would be the cleanest easiest setup but if you cant find them, then just get long fuel lines and wrap them around the engine bay as clean as u can

Re: lt1 fuel line

post a picture of your TPI setup. All the TPIs had fuel lines run on the drivers side. Firebirds had one line go to the passengers side for the charcoal canister. Are you sure your car wasn't converted from TBI to TPI? Definitely post a picture if you can, it'd help clear things up.

They are, there is one that goes on the passenger side (at least on my GTA and V6 which uses the same fuel rails) that goes to the charcoal canister, then two on the driver side.

Re: lt1 fuel line

I really hate this....has been a long time since I was this wrong, They do come up on drivers side and connect to the front of the fuel rail. Good news is I never found the ones I thought I needed.

Thanks guys for finding me in the dark.

cool, the important part is you figured it out and actually admitted when you were mistaken. that's a good thing that not enough people are capable of doing.
