No harness with LT1...should I go Painless
I bought an LT1 with everything but the intake manifold, wiring, and sensors. What would be the best thing to do....Get a painless wiring harness, or find a junk caprice/impala and take its wiring harness+sensors and splice into the 3rd gen harness.
Thanks,
Andrew

I was in the same boat. I looked at painless, but the price was a little steep for me. I went on LS1.com and bought a harness and computer from a member there. He labelled every wire for me, and had all emissions and a/c stripped off of it. If you find one cheap enough, there are companies that will make a stand alone harness which is just plug and play and a little cheaper than painless.

Try to get a wiring harness out of a 95-97 camaro/firebird. Also, try to get a 95 computer unless you have a 94, then you need a 94 computer/harness. I just know you can get all of the wiring schematics for LT1 camaros/firebirds online at shbox.com. All the sensors should be the same on any LT1 of the same year, no matter what car the LT1 is in. Manual and automatic cars have slightly different wiring harnesses.

talk to speartech.com , they make a very good (arguably the best) harness custom cut for your needs.. they are more expensive than painless but can also program your computer or sell you one custom programmed..

Im voting speartech... John will not only get you a perfect harness and computer modifications, but will always be around for support if you run into issues. And he stands behind his products just like all other great vendors.
