how do I tell if its a 6.0 or one if its little brothers?

Hey fellows,
I'm thinking of trading for a 6.0 that has the harness and the computer..complete. I want to know if someone could tell me how to confirm its a 6.0 and not its little brother? The top cover has been removed that says VORTEC 6000 and I don't know the ecm numbers or where the numbers are on the block to indicate what it is, nor do I know the numbers. I just want to confirm I have what I think I have before I make the trade...

I appreciate the help.....TAKE CARE...

Displacement is cast right into the block behind the flywheel. Well... Its there somewhere for sure... I think its at the rear of the block. Regardless its large numbers you cant miss it. But if its elsewhere dont hold me to it tonight... Its late and I've had a few

The casting number for the block is probably unique to the 6.0, as its the big-bore iron LSx engine (5.3 has the same bore as a 305). Also it could have the displacement cast into the block, like was said above. Some of the later Gen 1 blocks had that too - '50 LG' or '57LG'.

There should be a place on the front of the block that says 6.0L on it, that will tell you it's a 6.0.

drivers side, right on the face of the block(next to the timing cover)
if it doesnt say 6.0L, then you dont want it.
only way to distinguish a 4.8 or a 5.3 is by the VIN of the truck, which usually isnt around.
they share the same block.
beware.
6.0 all the way mang. dont look back.
