little lt1 help please

i hope its ok to bring this up here, but i have a 97 ta as a daily driver and since i bought it i have had a miss i cant track down. it throws an ses code every once in a while that is p0300 - intermittent miss (im pretty sure the number is right). anyway i had msd 8.5 wires put on it, had 7.5 plugs replaced (had someone replace the last one and instead of giving them a new one i gave them a used one - damn the bad luck). it definatly driver better and fuel economy increased to about 20-21 mpg (with mostly highway driving) but i can still feel it chaking and just doesnt seem to have a lot of power. is there anything else i can check to find this miss? i dont have a whole lot of extra cash right now so cheap options are even better. only thing i got left is to replace the fuel filter and run some injector cleaner through it

i would appreciate any help anyone could give me

Re: little lt1 help please

It will probably get locked since it doesn't have to do with a 3rd gen, but here's a few things to look at.

P0300 is multiple cylinder misfire. How many miles on the engine, is it the original opti, has it ever gotten wet, the original ignition module etc etc.

97k on it, not sure what is original and what isnt, have only owned it for a month or so. where is the ignition module on these engines? and is there any way to check the opti? could it be just a cp and rotor or the whole assembly? i really appreciate pointing me in the right direction here

Re: little lt1 help please

The module is right above the coil on the cylinder head.

If you have the dough I would replace the opti and the coil, after 90k+ miles most folks are finding rust and in some cases oil or water in their optis..

It is not too awful, but you do have to pull the water pump, and drain the coolant, I would replace the opti oil seal while you are there.
