Camshaft info?

Anyone tell me if this cam would be streetable? Could I use a stock convertor or maybe just a little one like a 2200-2400? I dont want to kill my milage and lets face it, its getting to be a real factor nowadays. As if the camshaft isnt going to DESTROY the milage haha. But anyways. On top of that, anyone here have experience with this cam or one similar? Im looking to run it on a stock longblock. But im pretty sure i'll need springs too correct? But what about the heads? Im planning on using a 98-02 F-body Donor preferably a 98 if I can find it or an 02.

And then the good question. Anyone know what kinda power I would make with this cam ?

It's going to give up some low end so unless your raising your rev limiter I don't see a point to it.

Your convertor is a lockup so I don't see how a slightly higher stall is going hurt you too bad.

Personally I'd go with a torquer 3 and supporting mods, but that's just me.

Re: Camshaft info?

Streetable? Yes, it should be. You could go to a 114 LSA & gain some streetability (& maybe 1-2 mpg) without losing too much peak power. It would make it a little bit easier to tune, & broaden the torque curve a bit too.

Converter? Well, any time you add a higher-than-stock converter, you're not going to be doing your fuel efficiency any favors, but I'd think that a 2400 stall should give you a noticeable kick in the pants without affecting it too badly...

Springs? YES. You should ALWAYS replace the springs with the ones recommended by the mfr of your cam. If you can't afford springs, you can't afford to do the cam swap, period.

Power? There's still a fair bit that you haven't told us, so I'm going to let someone else swing at that one...

Re: Camshaft info?

Okay more info huh? Here it goes.

98 LS1 and 4L60E

The car is a 91 GTA, weighing in (with the original 350) at 3400 lbs.

The cam is the XR275HR so I was wrong with the original specs, but its a 222-224 duration with a 112 LSA.

Right now im debating the 92mm or 90mm FAST intake and T/B setup. But thats whats going on top. Close to the same cost but the 92 seems like it may be a tad large.

As you all may know we 3rd genrs only have 1 choice of headers for a LS1 swap so you guessed it. I will be the next customer of hawks LTs for the LS1 3rd gen.

Im planning on running the LTs into a Y and into the flowmaster 80 cat back thats already there (I aint made of money).

Im using the Painless Harness/Pre-Tuned ECU/Camshaft kit (hence the confusion on the cam). But that was my biggest relief in the whole deal. $1500 from summit and oh yeah its just right for me. Id rather spend a months savings and keep it looking clean.

I dont want to run a tall convertor because I want the car to be streetable. Im not building a racecar, and I dont want the car to seem crazy to passengers and onlookers. So like 2400 is what I was going for. I plan on taking the car for drives to enjoy it, not out in the middle of the night like a bandit looking for a fight....always. Nothing wrong with not shooting for a bazillion HP is there? I want it done right more than anything.

My GTA is my baby, she'll get the best. Just dont tell that to my wife haha.
