Re: Starter
I dont think so, I believe the LB9/L98 starters are phisically bigger. The easiest thing to do is call autozone or advance or something and get the part numbers for each, or go up and have them pull an LT1 stater off the shelf and look at it....

Re: Starter
I knew the LT1 starters were smaller, but i just didnt know if the teeth on the flywheel were the same, and if it would fit. Guess i will find out when i try to bolt it up!
Thanks for the help.

Re: Starter
Probably wouldn't last long, you're taking a starter designed for an 8:1 compression motor and putting it on a 10.5:1 compression motor. If you can get an LT1 starter, get an LT1 starter and put on it.

LB9's were 9.3 to 9.5:1 CR.
It'll probably work, but why is it an issue?

Re: Starter
I've been using my LB9/5 spd starter for years on my sisters LT1/T56 swap
Also been using one on my dads L98/T56 and my own 355/T56 pushing 10:1 compression. Starts up every time with no complaints from the starter
Just used one on my friends destroked 400. Cranks easier than it did with the larger starter.
I do beleive, that the LT1 starters are better.
