sumped the tank for my new LT1.. does it need coated now?

O.k.. so just as the title says. I've done some searching and haven't found a true answer. I have sumped the tank and I'm wondering if it needs coated on the inside or outside with something.. The directions just said to fill it with water to test for leaks, if it leaked then drain the water and fill in the holes. I water tested it and there are no leaks. Is it a done stamp.. or should I coat it to be safe. What have some of you guys done?

After cutting, welding, and having it full of water, I recommend having it cleaned and re-coated. This way it won't rust out inside. You'll be happy you did it. I did this to my 85 GT, and it cost me $30 to have it cleaned and re-coated.

Thanks for the helpful tips guys, I'll look into coating it or just having it done and post what I ended up doing. The sump looks kick *** on there with those blue fittings out the bottum!

well... got it done and it looks amazing! Decided to get some permatex liquid metal and go around the welds on the outside to help seal it. Then on the inside I bought some Damon products Red-Kote and sloshed it all around the inside and let it dry. That Red-kote stuff is nasty.. Wow, make sure you have plenty of ventalation. Here's how it turned out.
