Update on 5.3L Iroc!
Hey Everyone,
Ive been lazy lately and got next to no work done on the car in the last few months.
Well, my truck was sent to the other property to rest in a feild cause it just doesnt work that well anymore
That means, i need to finish my camaro, so im pretty sure ive double my progress in the last few days.
Heres some update info:
Engine is wired!! - Had a local friend help me out with wiring it in exchange for that 4L60e that i broke, he is going to weld it up and hold onto it. The wiring works out nice, the truck harness is sorta re-arranged, computer & fuse box are by the battery, then the TAC is mounted on the inside of the strut tower. Wiring has to cross the intake near the front which i wasnt so happy about, but it doesnt look as bad as i had anticipated, and i guess function over form, i just want the damn thing to drive, so i cant complain much. Got my C100 connecter wired, just need to wire on my new injector pigtales & connect my ALDL Plug & the harness is done which means i can start putting my interior back together. So happy about this, feel like this is the biggest progress ive made, feels good.
Engine / Trans mounted - My mounts worked out great, and my modified trans crossmember worked perfect, very happy about that, so that part is done.
Exhaust Parts Ordered - Well, bit the bullet this morning and ordered some parts. I really wasnt having any luck finding manifolds, and if i had to pay $100 shipping i figured i might as well just go for some better stuff. Figured the 5.3L will work ok with 1 5/8" header primary's, so i ordered a set of hedman LT's for a thirdgen, GM Flanges for an LS1, 4 1 5/8" j bends, 6 2.5" J-bends, Bell& socket collector reducers, and a flowmaster Y connection. So ill modify the headers to fit, and ive got the tubing now to make my Y-pipe, which im very happy about. Cost me $420 for everything, which is alot cheaper then $800 for headers only from SW. Ill post up my modification progress, im hoping to have my exhaust finished & engine running by the end of next week.
Making intake tommorow - Goin to HomeDepot tommorow to find peice i need to make an intake, hopeing to get that done pretty quick.
Modify Pedal - Not sure if anyone noticed but im running an electronic pedal from a truck. The pedal doesnt fit, so its taking alot of modification, i had to cut the pedal off and make a bracket to fit, and had to modify the pedal lever to fit. will post pictures of it all.
Make Tq. arm Bracket - Since the trans on my car has no tq. arm mount, ill have to do something the same as cam. Will post updates onthis as i finish it.
Ill post some pictures tonight when i get home from work.
