1982 TA Wonderbar/STB with a LS1

Any of you run into any issues with a 3rd gen wonderbar and STB (for 350 TPI motor) interfering with a LS1 swap?

I would like to get both from UMI , just wanted to make sure if they will interfere.

I have a early 1982 TA

These are links of the products I am talking about.

(I wanted to install these before I pull the 82 stock K-member & engine out from under the car, hopefully these would hold the fenders all lined up)

Thanks

Re: 1982 TA Wonderbar/STB with a LS1

I'm running a stock wonder bar and Ws6 sway bar with zero clearance issues and I have complete accessories A/C and all. Theres at least 2" of room in mine and the only remotely close spot is at the crank pulley and as I said 2" or better

Cam,

I never thought that there were stock wonder bars. My 89 IROC didnt have one.

Did your 87 camaro come with one from the factory. It would be intresting to see a picture one one.

The WS6 sway bar was it from the donor LS1 car or also stock from the 87.

OE on IROC's (no other cars came equipped with them). If your 89 didn't have one, something's amiss.

aftermarket Wonderbars just expand on the originals (more bigger)

One of my local F-buds found a stock one in a junkyard & sold it to me for pretty cheap. I paid a few bucks to have it sandblasted & powdercoated, & then installed it. If you don't get any pics in the next day or two, I'll take 2 or 3 & post 'em up here. (It stands out really well, since I thought that I was getting a deep red powdercoat {towards burgundy}, & it turned out to be a pretty BRIGHT red...)

Did your car come with the optional 15" wheels?

Is there an RPO code for wonderbars?

Re: 1982 TA Wonderbar/STB with a LS1

Irocs came with a wonder bar stock as mentioned but they also came with a 34mm sway bar. The only cars that came with the 36mm were WS6 equipped TA's and GTA's but those cars did not get the wonder bar. I have had tons of third gens and one of my donor parts cars was an 89 GTA that had the 36mm bar so I swapped out the stock 34 in my car for that.

The only Camaro/Irocs that came with the wonder bar AND 36mm sway were GM Motorsport Players Challenge cars..... Like the one in my avatar

IIRC, some Camaros, 89-92, were equipped with the 36/24 combo; some Firebirds, 86-92. Hollander #524-111E (Front).

Re: 1982 TA Wonderbar/STB with a LS1

I'm wondering it the Edlebrock 3-point STB would work with a LS1 swap? I want a STB, but I don't see much of a point of a 2-point.

2 point works pretty good, it made a huge difference on my car. I tried an Edlebrock, but it would not fit with the stock hood and my Super Ram. With the LS1 you should have room. I'm sure someone who has one will chime in to let you know about the hood deal.

Re: 1982 TA Wonderbar/STB with a LS1

It'll fit under my hood, I'm pretty sure. I just don't want to buy the TBI one and then have to buy one to fit the LS1...

Re: 1982 TA Wonderbar/STB with a LS1

From what Ive seen or hear there is no clearence issues with the ls1 and any strut tower braces as the ls1 intake is pretty low. I don't personaly know this for a fact but I have seen some pics and looks like the is a ton of room.

Re: 1982 TA Wonderbar/STB with a LS1

I'd be surprised if there were clearance issues on any brand the LS1 sits way lower than the stock TPI or Carb/tbi engines do with the low intake and front mounted TB
