MAF sensor
I have a 383 LT1 in the works and was looking to upgrade to granetelli's MAF sensor. I read on golens engines website that they recommend NOT using anything other than the factory MAF. Anyone know why? Has anyone went with an upgraded aftermarket MAF on the performance LT1 builds or just stayed with stock? Will I really see any gains with a granetelli MAF?

Alot of guys I know who have built LT1s around locally either went speed density or used the stock MAF.

I ran an aftermarket MAS for a while. I didn't notice any performance gains and I had some idle problems I couldn't figure out. I put a stock one back on and the idle smoothed out. Apparently it is a lot harder to tune with an aftermarket MAS. The reason I went back to a stock one is because the aftermarket one failed.

stock Camaro TPI style intake system with stock MAF without screens will support 400whp easily. I was right there with stock TPI MAF/intake ducting. Switched to a 3.5" MAF and CAI tubing and have yet to notice any gains, mild ones if any. Its not 100% tuned with the setup but its close, like 90-95%. I expect maybe 10hp from it if that
How much do you plan on making? I'd just stick with stocker if your not over that 400 whp mark by much, which is right where MOST heads/cam LT1 383's are anyway

Sounds good guys.. I am running 383 LT1 with full ported heads, intake, pretty decent cam with 11.5:1 compression and all the goodies... Not sure what to expect with this but was told by the original engine builder that he was expecting ~450 hp but I dont know if that is to the wheels or the crank. We will hopefully find out by next summer...

410-430 at the wheels is the most i've been seeing for a decent streetable 383 LT1 setup
He probly is expecting crank hp which 450 isnt bad at all, but its easy to get 475-500 out of a ported head 383 LT1, depends on the head porting and how big a cam you get
