"Chevrolet" valve covers

This is probably a stupid question but I have no experience so here goes...

Can valve covers for big blocks heads work on LT1 heads?

I read in some forum other forum that someone was running these valve covers:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

using an adapter plate from jegs:

http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/757463/10002/-1

Does this work? I always imagined big block heads to be much larger.

Assuming this does not work, anyone know if there are valve covers like these anywhere for LT1's? I would pay a decent amount because these look amazing, any help would be great.

no big block valve covers will not work. for an lt1 you need centerbolt valvecovers... or you can buy an adapter to use regular old perimiter bolt valve cover for a small block chevy

Hey thats a cool find that I did not know about. I always liked the "chevrolet" valve covers. Guess you would also have to adapt how the vent tubings are routed. Looks like the vent locations are quite different

Re: "Chevrolet" valve covers

Well, if these big block style covers will not work, then are these made for small blocks?

I searched and came up with nothing here and on google.

Personally I think the majority of the center bolt style valve covers look cheap and I dont think its worth the money they sell for, but I would def. pay twice as much for the style shown above.

I will have to try and call summit and/or jegs also.

more than likely the ones you saw were these but with the black powder coating.

Jim Pace carries these in a few different colors. They have no holes in them but do have bosses there for drilling for breathers. I'll rephrase normally they don't the ones on the summit link have a hole in each valve cover already. They also make a cast center bolt valve cover.

Where can I look at the cast center bolt valve covers?

Is there a website for the covers offered by Jim Pace? (sorry, guess im newbie)

If not, any links to buy these perimeter bolt chevrolet covers in black for SBC and I will go with the adapters.

Re: "Chevrolet" valve covers

ALso... what is the difference between baffles and breathers?

For my 383 LT1 build, no emissions, EGR, AIR, etc... I do not need a PCV valve or whatever and I assume the only things I need is one breather and one oil fil correct? Any reason to have a breather on both sides? Does it matter which side I have the breather on? How about the oil fill?

Re: "Chevrolet" valve covers

yes you do need a pcv.. the vacuum keeps crankcase pressure from blowing out seals. i drilled my own hole in my centerbolt polished aluminum covers. and i also use that for an oil fill

Summit may be the only place carrying them now, I couldn't find any at pace (paceparts.com) and I couldn't find the cast centerbolt covers now but they didn't have Chevrolet on them anyway they were just like these valve covers but with 4 holes. These also work the same though, they just got rid of 2 holes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SMALL...spagenameZWD1V

you could always get them powdercoated or use some ceramic header paint or polish them. either style that is.

Yea, I may get the neutral ones from summit then get them powder coated. Seems like the best/only option right now.

I will keep everyone up to date on where I get with this.
