LS1 swap easier?

I read about all the stuff you'd need and seen a $1000 wiring harness for the swap. But if i'm using a 4th gen interior, 4th gen ecm, bcm and engine and trans can't I just use all the wiring out of the 4th gen instead of buying this custom harness?

You don't need to buy a custom harness, you can graft the LS1 harness into the existing dash harness in the car.
