GT2-3 is a favorite of the turbo / nitrous guys for 346 displacement. The motor I bought for my ls1 swap had it installed already. Its all here-say, but he said the motor absolutely screamed on spray with that cam. not sure what that equates to for turbo and 5.3 though

Re: Lsx camshaft

the cam will act like it has 6* more duration ing a 5.3L application.

ex. TR224 cam in a 5.3 would act like it was a 230/230

Your best bet would to be look for somethin a little smaller

So what would be my best choice? i know the duration should be around or under 220. but im not the best camshaft person.

Not sure what your looking at if your going boosted, your looking 214-216 area for duration, and you want min 116LSA so you can build boost if your planning on turbo'ing the car

You don't HAVE to have 116LSA or higher to build boost. There was a guy on ls1tech a couple years ago that ran a custom grind cam with a 112LSA to test out his theory on cleaning the combustion with the extra air from the valve overlap.

I think it worked pretty well. He put down around 500-550whp with a cam, bolt on and p1sc procharged ls1 at around 5lbs I believe.

I don't see the problem running the GT2-3 in a 5.3 really. It might move your powerband up some but its not going to make the car hard to drive by any means.
