lt1 map problems
lt1 map problems
ive looked for help on this basically since i finished putting the lt1 in my car. if both the map and maf are connected the car bogs accelerates poorly and has trouble holding speed on the highway without feathering the throttle. if u disconnect the maf its basically the same. but if you disconnect the map and leave the maf connected the car will actually roast the tires.
i have none of the emissions still on the car i know part of the problem is probbly the vss signal and one bad knock sensor but that still doesn't explain why it runs so much better with the map disconnected
ive got a t-5 to swap in which may help alittle with some of the driveablity but im kinda desperate im getting married in june we had our first date with me driving it and i want to get it perfect for the wedding

Re: lt1 map problems
That is wierd, I would think the engine will buck, knock, and make all kinds of awful sounds with the MAP disconnected no matter what. I can't explain that.
The knock sensor could be bad or something could be causing the knock. For instance, I had a blown head gasket or head gasket on its way out that was causing "knock". The knock sensor will pull timing causing bad acceleration.
The VSS shouldn't affect anything since its a 700R4 if you have the pcm tuned to think it has a manual. Might be fine without a computer tune.
Did you have the computer(pcm) tuned? How do you know the knock sensor is bad or picking up knock?

Re: lt1 map problems
the knock sensor isnt picking up any knock but i have a code for knock sensor i tuned the computer to the best of my ability with tuner cat but i may have missed some thing i dont even know if the "factory tune" i started with is any good
Re: lt1 map problems
I would recommend to get an email tune from madtuner.com or pcm4less. Then fix/replace the knock sensor or knock sensor circuit. The wire to the knock sensor might have got pinched/cut.
You may also want to download tts-datamaster and see if the map is changing values as you change throttle. Or even try a program called freescan or freescanner.

Re: lt1 map problems
right know i cant test any of these because the car is in pieces till i get the fender and bumper back on and bleed the brakes but i do have access to tech 1's and tech 2's at work if you think they would work to help figure this out
