Everyone with LT1!!!
Hey guys i want to here your set up with your LT1. I would like to know how much power you are making and if you know your 1/4 mile time. I basically bought a LT1 from a 96 impala ss. I say basically bc they are holding it for me but its still in the car and they want all the money before they pull it. I dont like that deal. I was going to give them like 100 bucks then the rest once its done so i know all the wiring is good and not just cut. Any ideas? It is complete with everything for 500 bucks.
I know it is 260 hp and 330 tq. Why is that so much less than the camaro or corvettes? Should i get aluminum heads? What the difference in the engines? My goal with the engine is between 380-400 rwhp.
thanks
kevin

Im not exactly sure on the power difference. But a major role in it is most likely exhaust set up.

That's a good deal for that motor. The difference in the power from the impala and the f-body motor is the cams that they have, and the impala has iron heads which some say flow better than the aluminum ones. Just get a cam from an f-body or vette and the power will go up.

Ya it is complete with wiring and computer. I just dont want to give them all the money and they just cut all the wires to get it out fast u know. For my build i wanted to port and polish the heads to 2.02 and 1.6 have no clue how much money. Rebuild kit of course. 3000 stall with a hot cam mabey around .525-.550in lift. Then are the injectors big enough? Should i port out the TB to? Then headers and y-pipe. I'm hopin it wont be much over 3k.
thanks

Man thats pretty ambitious for 3K. Prob. looking at least 500$ for the head porting.Exhaust ran me about $600 for headers, y pipe and cat back stuff. You dont really mention a tranny, but I never could get mine to run well with the 700r4. You are gonna need some ecm tuning, so the service or the cable/software will be a couple hundred as well. I felt like I took a cheaper route and I still spent almost 7K. I guess it depends on how much you can do yourself.

Re: Everyone with LT1!!!
with bolts ons and a six speed my car ran 13.4 @ 104 with a crappy 2.2 60ft time. That was when it dynoed 289 rwhp I believe.. 3395lbs. I was thrilled that day since it beat a then new BMW M3 in the other lane(not the v8 version).
with the current heads and cam etc.. it is over 400 but I don't really go to the track and it isn't why I put the car together but I could guess if it would ever hook low 12s or high 11s..
Good price on the engine but don't forget the formula, more power=cubic dollars.

Or camaroz28.com in the lt1 section.. you don't need much to run 12's just some traction and a good stall.
