Re: Good low end cam??
We are talking about the LT1 from a 96. sorry about that. Some one said something about the Lingenfelter 211/219? seems like that would be a fun cam? But i do want something better than the hot cam that everyone has or atleast seems like.
thanks

If you want low to mid I'd go with the crane 227. BTW you can do 0-80 real fast with out a cam.

Re: Good low end cam??
Not really its a 96 out of a impala ss. 260hp and 330tq. I have looked that cam up the Crane 227(214/224 duration). I wanted something alittle bigger and aggresive. I didnt know how aggressive this cam was Lingenfelter 211/219?

Re: Good low end cam??
Well I have the cc503 that might be up FS. BTW the 227 held the "cam only" record for quite some time.

You'd probably be best off by putting all of your info into this sucker & clicking 'submit'...

Re: Good low end cam??
How about this cam has anyone have it?
228/235 .560/.560 109 LSA. - 1900-6200 RPM
NON-EMISSIONS version of 224/230 cam mentioned above. Mild to choppy idel. Good HP/TQ through out and a very usable power band. Best choice for "most people" using stock bottom end. Minimum 2800 stall and 3.42 gears for B body. Comparable to Comp 467 XFI cam.

Re: Good low end cam??
I would go with the cc503 cam. My buddy swapped in a 96 Caprice LT1 into his 79 Monte Carlo. I has the normal bolt-ons, cc503 cam, 918 springs and 1.6 roller rockers and puts down 327rwhp. He also runs 12.84 in the 1/4. He loves that cam so far on stock cast iron heads, but make sure to upgrade the springs.

Re: Good low end cam??
Something a lot of people forget is that these are big v8 engines. They will make quite a bit of low end simply by design alone. Instead of saying "I want as much low end torque as possible", plan out exactly what you are going to do with the car. No one races from 0-80. Be specific so you don't end up building something that doesn't perform any better than a stock setup.

Re: Good low end cam??
All looks good except #7 do your self a favor and get the 4L60E.
You can take the HotCam and get a third gen in to 12's.

Re: Good low end cam??
Yes i know the 700r4 isn't going to hold much but i cant afford a new trans to lol. Then the 10 bolt also. Lingenfelter 211/219 cam is bigger and better than the hot cam? atleast that was wat i was told.

Re: Good low end cam??
Yea it is but IIRC there where a few on here or cz28 that hit 12's with the HC. Not the best choice (HC)but I think it will get into the 12's.

Re: Good low end cam??
Contact some sponsors on ls1tech or cz28.com. They will set you up with exactly what you need. I would talk to Advanced Induction as they have put together some seriously fast combinations. Even just a custom grind cam from them would be better than the crap you can get off the shelf. If you are short on cash after the swap, spend a little and get some fbody heads (you said its an impala lt1), and put some new springs and 1.6 roller rockers on them. Put the engine in with the stock cam just like that and save up until you can get the money for a new top end. Don't waste your time with the 211/219 or the hot cam. Both are antiquated designs and there are MUCH better alternatives out there.
Contact Advanced induction or another shop like them that has PROVEN results.

They are much better designs out ther but for what he wants to spend. I would go with a shelf cam till I had the setup I wanted and then call AI or LE.

Re: Good low end cam??
With the proper bolt ons and tuning, the lt1 will make quite a bit more power than what he is used to and definitely won't have a 0-80mph problem. I still say the best advice would be to do all the bolt ons first, then tune it, then look into cams later on when he can afford to do an entire top end.

Yes but then you will be spending even more money and doing the same job twice.
