I live in Phoenix, AZ. They do an inspection and tail pipe test for emissions. Would I pass an inspection with an '01-02 LS1 in my 1991 camaro? I know the '01-02 LS1's don't have the EGR, so I thought that may be a problem...I'm not sure.
Thanks.
Thanks.
you will have to call or look up there specific requirements but most states only req. you meet the emissions and setup from the car it came from (converter location, airbox, manifolds ect.)

When they got rid of the EGR they also started using a different cam. According to what I have read, this cam has more overlap, which kind of replicates an EGR effect (or something like that, I'm no cam expert, but I can definitely try and find that article again if you'd like to read it...). Anyway, there shouldn't really be any difference in tailpipe emissions for any given LS1 '98-'02.

Every state is different. But I can tell you, I live in new york metro area. They are very strict. I have a 02 LS1 with a mild Comp cam( just a little more lift and duration than the factory LS 6 cam). It has no egr. I am running Random tech high flow cats. Front and rear o2 sensors. I also have the secondary air pump hooked up and all the tank vapor system. When I go for an inspection they see all the emissions stuff in place then just put it on the rollers as if it was a stock set up. The 02 LS1 with a cam runs much cleaner than the the stock TBI 305 it replaced. It's not even close it's a much cleaner engine. I wish I kept the numbers, but I didn't.
