Argg, Help! [Me bitching inside]
Sooooo.
I doubt anyone noticed, but ive been absent from the board from a fair bit of time, couple months atleast.
I know im bitching in a bias place, but its likely what i need.
So, here's the deal. I got into a new crowd of local guys who are into real deal JDM(Japanese Domestic Market) Car's and i guess they sorta rubbed off on me, being ive never had any local car guys that i could really hang out with, so it was a cool new experience.
Anyways, so recently i started juggling the idea of yanking the LS from my camaro and putting it in something else. Looked at a few cars, but never warmed up to the 240sx's i was looking at. Well, then i was offered a Skyline GTS-T as a trade for my LS1/T56 setup i just built.
So this gets me to now. Im stressing like mad, because i simply cannot afford to get the skyline and finish it (its a project car)and keep my camaro at the same time. The Drifting scene has got me excited, but i cant afford really to spend money on the tires to do it.
Anyways, ive been attempting to part out my camaro (as im sure many of you have seen) but i cant seem to do it. I delay on replying, because i cant seem to bring myself to scrap my first car.
I dont know if its just myself being ignorant to trying something new (I know **** all about IRS, Turbo 6's, Nissan parts etc) so i dont know if thats whats stressing me out like mad and making it hard for me to let go of my camaro which i know so much about.
I keep thinking back to my iroc-z having over 1000 hours of time into it, countless amount of money, rediculous time getting to know the car absolutly inside out, and then as i think back to it, i start to talk myself out of the skyline.
Then ill have a thought about the skyline and how its the god of the tuner world, its a unique car, its something different, its something new,and i start to convice myself out that my camaro is the wrong car to be involved with.
Arg. I know im as indecisive as a teenage girl. I just dunno what to do. I feel like ill regret either decision, just need to decide what ill regret the least.
I know in september im going to go to school in Windsor, ON (Boarder to detroit) and ill be 5 hours drive from everyone im around now, so i worry ill loose interest in the skyline again and wish i had my camaro back.
Fack.
Help
Me
Please!
.End Rant

Skylines never came to north america, nor did the RB motor series, so parts are avaliable from importers only.
R32 skylines are not legal in the states either (Meaning resale is in canada only)

It may just be a passing thing. Lots of times I see things I want, then I buy them and wish I would've thought it through more. Just think about it for awhile longer until you are 100% sure you are doing the right thing. If you want a friend, you can hang out with me

my friend put one those skyline engines single turbo rb25? or what ever its called in his s10, and hes been having a hard time finding parts that are affordable. i think the camaro would be worth more in the long run, but just think it through.

STOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!! I know the import cars can be enticing...but you should keep your camaro. Set that sucker up to beat the JDM cars AND drift with them.
Getting into the JDM cars can be $$$$...especially if you have to work on the car itself. If you get a nice clean, ready to go roller...its not bad. Ive been looking at Datsun Zs and most of the ones Ive found have tons of rust or need complete rebuilds. And once you add that up, its crazy.
Just give yourself some time...If its what you really want to, you wont be able to talk yourself out of it. But if you give it some time, and you realize you dont really want to go down that path, you will be SO glad you didnt ditch your camaro.
That is a nice car, and you didnt a great job on the swap and other work. Ide really hate to see you ditch the project.

P.S...Not downing your desire to switch over to the dark side
Just playing devils advocate to your indecisive girl side. haha.

Just playing devils advocate to your indecisive girl side. haha.Imports are definately big $$, would be the same idea as a LS1 Camaro in japan, parts would be non existant, and expensive to get over there.
The skyline i was looking at was definately a project, had a RB25DET motor in it, R33 front end, R33 wiring harness, then GTR Widebody 1/4's on it etc etc. It was rust free, but in the end i had to do a fair bit of work and give up my camaro to get it.
Im feeling its probably best to keep my camaro. I tried and i tried to convince myself that the skyline was the way to go, but i just cant seem to let go of my camaro, especially not in peices.
Dad is upset cause he wants to see me at the very least finish the camaro, and i know its my first car with a **** ton of work done on it, so its got alot of sentimental value.
My woman friend tells me she thinks its a phase im going through and that ill be past it in a few weeks/months and if i get rid of my camaro in that time, ill be pissed off and wish i had it back.
Arg.
I think i know my camaro is best, i just need to remove the doubt in my mind, cause thats whats making it hard.
Definately know my camaro could beat the snot out of any of the imports in my area, and doesnt even need a turbo to do so.
Drifting with live axle isnt as easy as IRS, and the heft the camaro brings along doesnt help either. But maybe the drift is a phase also, i cant afford tires or slipping up and mashing any car into a wall, let lone mine.
Thanks for the support so far guys! Means alot.

if you can't afford tires or the parts to replace if you break them....then obviously this isn't the time to jump into the sport.

Re: Argg, Help! [Me bitching inside]
Check you $$$ before you make any decisions.. can you make the camaro better with less? Is it already a better faster car?
I have tossed around the idea of making a 944 lsx conversion a few times (as side projects not selling the T/A), as well as converting an RX7 or 240SX.. The main question for you is simple, can you do it and have the same performance for the same amount of money? OR will the project dig you in an endless moneypit to get less than when you started..
If the answer is even a maybe then keep the camaro, don't forget that high strung small displacement motors are hard to maintain for long...The old skylines are different but they are not the end-all-be-all, isn't an LSx camaro different?.. Even more important, will your friends still be your friends with your camaro kicking their A**
