Any LT1 third gens goin to the LTx Shootout??

Hey just curious if any LT1 swap guys from here are planning on going to the LTx shootout this year, I posted a thread on the LTx forum and they said they haven't seen to many third gen swaps show up at the race. So if you are going what are you bringing? classes you plan on running? and any pics would be awesome! And if you were there last year how was it, and how'd you run???

Re: Any LT1 third gens goin to the LTx Shootout??

If I can get mine running before the shootout I will be there. Mine will be just a stock LT1/4L60e swap and I will be in the bracket class. I think that you were talking to my buddy with his LT1 Monte on LTXTech (79LT1Monte). I know he will be there in bracket class at least, but if he can get a couple tenths he will be in the 12.0 index class also. I was just a in the stands last year and had a blast, but now I want to have a little more fun on the track.

ya, i talked to your friend with the monte, I was hoping to see some pics of his swap but I couldnt find them anywhere. He said they were on the shootout forum? My buddy did a LS1 swap into his monte and it turned out pretty nice, so i was curious how the LT1 looks. Well if you get a chance send me a link to his pics. I guess theres not a lot of ppl that plan on going to the shootout from here?

Re: Any LT1 third gens goin to the LTx Shootout??

haha ya, its about a 13hr drive for me, but I did all this work to my engine and this is probably the biggest event for the LT1 based engine to race and compete with people that have the same kind of cars so I think I'm gonna go. (as long as my cars ready) haha... Plus it will probably be a ton of fun.

Firebat, after all the help you've given me with my questions I would love to check out your car. Why wouldn't you run it while you're there since you don't live to far away??

Sadly because of the body of the car. I got fenders, spoiler, door, and 4th gen mirrors that are painted different colors. I'll be working on the body the next couple months, shaving door locks, shaving rear side markers, shaving antenna hole, shaving mirror holes. Everything functional/mechanical-wise works great though and its been a few years since I could say that. I might throw on just a quick thin coat of paint over the wrong colored parts so it wouldn't look so bad. Its kind of a maybe at this point but I got a little work to do before I take it to a national event.

I am just going to do a quick primer job on my car so it looks all one color, but mine will not be any kind show car at the event. It wont even be all that fast but I will be out there having fun with it. So just spray bomb it real quick and come out and have some fun.
