LS1 Swap Started Advice Needed
LS1 Swap Started Advice Needed
Ok so I pulled my Tpi setup and ordered a LS1 from a 99 vette. I also ordered a 4l60e from a 98 camaro. They should be here in a week or so. I ordered the spohn motor mounts and the auto tranny crossmember. I read that the corvette oilpan wont fit so does anyone have a suggestion for me.

Re: LS1 Swap Started Advice Needed
With a tubular K, the 'vette pan MIGHT fit. Steve Spohn says it will. I think the next step with that approach, is a challenging exhaust setup.
Another way is to get a Camaro oil pan setup (inc scraper).
You will have to notch your cross member. You MAY also need to hammer it a bunch, for the 'Ro oilpan to fit. This was covered here not long ago, and other times, too.
Nose around, some great stuff and pictures.

inc= including
There is a scraper with the oil pan setups.
Sorry, it has been a year since you asked.

You mean windage tray, not scraper. Be sure to get the matching Fbody pick-up tube
Oilpan clearance depends on engine mounts used and where they locate the engine (forward/back)

1 - (Please) don't use ALL CAPS, that's interpreted as "shouting" - IOW, it comes across as rude.
2 - Click on this link, it contains all of the basic information that you'll need to know in order to do this swap. It wouldn't be a bad idea to read it several times.
3 - When you have questions, start your own thread, rather than "piggybacking" on someone else's - that's the best way to keep from getting your info mixed in with someone else's. PLUS, when/if you can't recall a certain piece of data regarding your swap, it's all there in one place - your thread.

And unfortunately, those parts are pretty popular, since F-body pieces work for a number of different swaps, so they're not the easiest to find, & when you do find 'em, you've gotta jump on the deal quickly, so they're not the cheapest parts out there either. (Trust me, I've fought those battles, since I started out with a truck setup.) BUT, from everything I've been told, the end result is worth it.
(I'm finally starting to think that just MAYBE I can see the finish line off in the far distance...)Good luck.
