Another 5.3 conversion question
First off thanks to all who have helped answer a few questions so far. Now i have the LS1 intake ready to go one but it doesnt clear the steam line of the 5.3. I see the LS1 has just a front tube so what are they doing with the rear holes?

What year f-body did that intake come from? I think it might be an LS6 intake, if so, I think people are cutting the ribs off the bottom. I'm not completely sure but I'm sure someone will post that knows more about it.

here's an article that I found, it even has the part number for the plugs for the back two holes on the head if you want to go that route.

Hes talking about the truck coolant crossover, not the LS1 crossover. They are different
The truck one point strait up and runs right into a runner and other bends are too close to allow you to properly bolt the LS1 intake on. I tried to bend them clear but kinked it and sourced a LS1 crossover. They are very inexpensive since LS1 guys usually dont de-rib their LS6 intakes, they just buy the LS6 crossover
Easy way to ID
Truck outlet point strait up and goes to all 4 corners
LS1 points forward and goes to all 4 corners
LS6 points forward and only goes to the front corners. Rears are plugs

1. use the cross-over pipe from the 5.3, cut the ribs on the bottom, and bend the pipe over, this would be the cheapest way to go.
2. run the ls1 cross-over but you would still have to cut the ribs off the bottom.
3. run the ls6 type crossover with the plugs in the back, doing it this way you wont have to cut the ribs.
my opinion, if the engine came with the cross-over pipe connected to all four corners of the cylinder head, then I would leave it this way.

i've used both setups. havent noticed any difference in cooling with the 4 corner crossover converted to the ls6 style. $30 shipped for the ls1 crossover 4 corner style tube if you want one. I've got 1 in stock
