Ls2/6spd vert underway

Finally posting my project thats been off and on for the past few years, as money comes and goes. 1989 z28 convertible, stock 305tbi/5spd in running condition. Still trying to find pics of the car when first bought it, never got a chance to drive it as I was working in New Orleans after the hurricanes. Got the car off ebay and had it shipped home, shortly after had the motor and tranny pulled and sold. Currently at the body shop, had all emblems decals removed, soda blasted, and should be in the process of being painted, which I will keep black. Its gonna have the jongbloed hood, billet grill, and some other little things. The stock(for now) ls2/6spd came out of a 06 gto with 11k miles, might do a head and cam swap. Not sure what to go with on the rear end, exuahst, bra, wheels tire, interior, and so on, guess I will decide when the time comes. Pics are of the progress it has seen since being in the shop, hope to have more updated ones this week some time. Having my brother keeping track of things since I'm currently in Iraq(this place sucks). More to come.

Re: Ls2/6spd vert underway

Actually the owner of the body shop recommended soda blasting it, I never heard of using soda until then. He said it does a better job than anything else. Hoping to have it ready for the performance shop by the end of the year.

Yes, soda is a lot softer for the sheet metal then sand (aka sandblast). It does wonder and is still A LOT less messy then aircraft paint stripper.

Re: Ls2/6spd vert underway

Looks like we are going the same way with our rides. I did the paint job 2 years ago. Took a lot of time, money and hazzle.
I bought myselt a very similar engine combo LS2/T56 from a -06 GTO aswell. But I live in Sweden and I havent recieved it yet. Still waiting for the proper/cheap shipping for it.
Good luck with everything for now/Robert
