Cable X speedo convertor

Has anyone on here who as done an LTX or LSX swap used the Cable X speedo convertor?? Do you like it, was it easy do install, etc etc. If you didnt use the cable X convertor what did you end up going with? I'm looking for a good speedo convertor for my third gen dash to go to my T56 transmission. Something number 1, easy to install and #2 fairly accurate. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Cable X speedo convertor

Your very welcome. I have a customer with a Cable-X box and he's having me convert his trans to cable drive. If you want I can ask him to share his experiences with the Cable-X box with you.

What about swapping in an 88 or 89 firebird electronic speedo?

Easier to swap in a 90-92 camaro speedo since he has a camaro to start with

Huge job compared to adding a cable box

Re: Cable X speedo convertor

don't you have to change the dash wiring if you wanted to go from mech speedo to an elec speedo?

He has an 86 with the round guages. He'd need to redo his whole dash with a 90-92 camaro setup.
An 88 or 89 firebird setup would still be the black round style and a much closer fit.
Not to mention they are $20 at a junkyard or on here.
90-92 firebird would also work being round but not match as close being more gray.

most of us are bypassing the vss buffer box already on the electonic speedos. I don't know of any other special electronics after that, but I don't have that year.
The PCM will need to be reprogrammed but that's a given on any 3rdgen.

Ok, i'm going to run into this problem in a few more months. I have an 89 Iroc LSX swap with a T56 trans and I'm thinking about going with the box but if you guys are making the electronic clusters work, then I'll do it that way.

Re: Cable X speedo convertor

so an electric cluster will work? If I got an electric dash out of a newer thirdgen would i be able to swap that in w/o any wiring issues? and would it connect to my T-56 w/o any problems? I also was thinking about eventually getting a digital dash, possibly from dakota digital. If i went this route would there be an easier way to convert my speedo??
