Warning about #241 heads
Ported 241's are fine, and will make power but not as much as a ported 5.3L or LS6 head. The biggest reason 241's suck IMO is due to the fact that you drastically reduce PTV clearance if you try to get any compression out of them by milling. So be careful guys. Especially you, Jamie Sweet, since you mentioned you want to mill yours for compression. You'll need a wider lobe sep if you go ahead with this.

???????ANY oe ls head will reduce ptv. when milled. the solution is cutting in relieves. not altering the camshaft specs.
the 241's far from suck in real world applications. ported heads comparison is subjective. ive seen the 241s at 320 peak cfm. and the others around same flow.
if anything what you gotta watch out for is to not mill any more than .030. if not needed. any more may cause intake to heads alignment issues.

I never said you can't make good power with 241s. But notching your stock pistons isn't entry level stuff to be trying for yourself. It's cheaper to get 5.3 heads than it is to get the cutters and notch your pistons.

notching pistons and degreeing cam are just some of the basic steps of correct cam install.

imo

I've never heard or thought of that, but you can bet I'll give it a try. And report back. Probably not until February at the soonest, however.
