5.7 LS1 bored and strocked

I am almost done installing my 5.3L and came across a pretty good deal on a LS1 short block that needs rebuild. Can these be bored and strocked to a 6.0L or should i just wait for a 6.0 shortblock to roll around. I am looking for more power to build and install next winter.

You can't bore it to the 4" bore of a 6.0L. Max you can go is around 3.905 (a little over that I think). Now you could resleeve it and go as big as you wanted...but that means money.

You can stroke a LS1 to 382 cubes. Or you can get the world jugs and make a 427.

Re: 5.7 LS1 bored and strocked

just turn a 6.0L into a 402/408 and call it a day, I wouldn't put a dime into a ls1 when the price of ls2 shortblocks has dropped so much if you want to stay aluminum. Me I'd rather just buy up the 6.0L or wait until early december when the sponsors on ls1tech have their stroked shortblock sales and take over several hundred. I've gotten a few for people during that time for great prices.

If you mean direct-injected as in the new F*rd Eco-Boost engines, then the answer is "More than you can put to the pavement on a street tire!"

Re: 5.7 LS1 bored and strocked

Actually, you can't direct-inject a 572 without designing some new heads to take the injectors. But for less money, you can do a 408 LQ4 and have less weight, more mpg, and less emissions.
