LT1 head gaskets

someone was telling me the other day that LTX motors had problems popping head gaskets. I've never really heard about this being a problem, but I figured I'd ask if anyone had problems anyways. any suggestions (brand, type ect) on a new set of headgaskets?

Thats a wash. Not every engine is a northstar

Get a decent gasket and dont worry about it anymore. Everyone has their favorite brands

I have the fel-pro 1070 have not had a problem yet. You can go to the dealership and get the gaskets for a impala and it will bump your CR a little. And don't reuse the head bolts they are TTY bolts.

Re: LT1 head gaskets

I also like Felpro for gaskets. Been impressed with the head gaskets, oil pan gasket, and valve cover gaskets they make for the LTX.

Quite easy to replace the head gaskets when you use a hayne's/chilton's manual as a guide.

I was told after I replaced my head gaskets that I should have got new bolts and should have had the heads looked over for cracks or warping. Oh well, everything is still working like it should and plan on re-building the engine in the future anyway.

I'd probably either do an LS4 or a turbo 3.9L LZ9 V6

Re: LT1 head gaskets

another question on the head gaskets, I've noticed they have pushrod holes. can they pass as guideplates? I don't think it would be strong enough, but I figured I would ask.
