Starting on the LS_ Swap...
I'm starting to do some odds and ends for the LS(something) swap (after graduation...).
So far I've installed a manual 4th gen console and my friend and I notched the K-member from my parts car to clear the AC compressor from the 4th gen accesories. My friend and I did the fab work (well, I watched and then did some grinding at the end to clean it up) over the weekend. I think it turned out well.
My next project is to finish out the console swap. The console itself fits fine, but the radio/AC control pod is from a 3rd gen Firebird (the console, pod, and console are seperate pieces in them unlike the Camaros where the console/pod is a one piece). It does the job, but it doesn't fit right and looks somewhat out of place. I'm going to buy some black ABS plastic that's patterned the same as my stock dash and some MDF for framing and fabricate my own pod. I plan to run it from the bottom of the AC vents to the top of the console. I want to have three of the small gauges (the 2 and 1/16) at the top, with a double DIN touch screen below it, and then the controls on the bottom. I'll work easier this way because the AC controls are harder to lengthen than the stereo wires. With my plans of boosting the engine, I'll probably buy a boost, A/F ratio, and fuel pressure, probably in the Autometer Cobalt.
I'll be using the player there, if I can stomach the price. Here is the link to the Kenwood DNX9140.
