Hi guys, I've gotten most of my swap finished, but need a little wiring info. When I was disecting my harness from the C100 connector, I found that there's a brown wire that is connected to the alternator, pin L that goes to the volt meter. I know the LS1 alternator does not use anything like this. My question is , if this wire is deleted will my volt meter work ? If not how do I get it to work with the LS1 type alternator ? Thanks in advance, Dean

My 87 GTA had the same wire and I was told to leave it off. I did and my voltmeter works fine.
3rd gen charge gauges are hooked directly into the main electrical system so they monitor the whole system rather than just the alt output. The wire is not reused for a LSx swap. LT1's do use it though

The gauge in a factory 3rd gen instrument panel is a volt meter, so it just goes between the switched power and ground. Doesn't get anything directly from the engine compartment.
Thanks guys, maybe I can wrap this wiring up today. You guys on thirdgen have been so much help. Even though this is the only question I've asked about the swap directly, so many have been answered. Thanks again, Dean
